The Job and Internship Fair is this Wednesday! Make sure you look your best with these helpful tips provided by your Career Ambassadors.
1. You must dress professionally - Business Professional attire is required to attend the Job and Internship Fair. This means no sneakers, jeans, shorts, flip flops, etc. However, this does not mean that you must be wearing a suit. Consider wearing dress slacks, a nice button down shirt or blouse, and dress shoes.
2. Dress comfortably - Make sure your clothing is comfortable enough to wear for several hours. You will be walking at the Job and Internship Fair. Plan for an outfit and shoes that will look nice and be comfortable, even if you spend all of your time walking. Choose an outfit that fits: not too tight or too loose, as this will make you appear unprofessional.
3. Tips for the ladies - Apply simple makeup and wear simple jewelry to keep the focus on you and your qualifications. If you wear a skirt or dress, avoid spaghetti straps and make sure the length is to the knee.
4. Tips for the gentlemen - Before the Job and Internship Fair, get a good haircut and clean shave. Ties are not required to attend this event, but if you choose to wear a tie, stick to a simple print or solid color to keep from distracting the interviewer.
Treat this event as you would treat an interview. Keep the focus on you by choosing understated and neutral-colored clothing. You want to make the best first impression on your potential future employer.
See you at the Job and Internship Fair on February 19th in the Don Taft University Center from 11-2!

Job and Internship Fair Tips
Have you heard about the Job and Internship Fair?
Career Development will be hosting this great opportunity for students this Wednesday, the 19th. At this event, you can meet over 50 employers! This is certainly an event you don't want to miss. More information about the event can be found in the flyer below.
In order to help you prepare for this event, check out these tips.
1. Think about what you're looking for - Are you attending the Job and Internship Fair because you're looking for a summer internship or are you graduating and in search of a job? Whatever the reason, think about your major and intended career path. This will help you narrow down what kind of positions you want to be looking into at the Fair.
2. Do some research - There will be over 50 employers at this event and you can find a list of the employers here. Researching the companies that will be there is helpful in a few different ways. Knowing what careers and positions these companies are looking to hire will help you use your time wisely at the Fair. Also, learning some background information about the company before applying there might be a great way to distinguish yourself from other students.
3. Update your resume - Make sure your resume has your most current work experiences and achievements. If an employer asks for your resume, you want to be prepared! If you need help with a resume, there's still time to visit Career Development before the Job and Internship Fair. Call 954-262-7201 to make an appointment or stop by for a drop-in session Monday-Friday from 11-1 at our new office in the Horvitz Building.
