Success Story: Stefano Fanfoni

Name: Stefano Fanfoni
Major: Psychology
Year: Senior

1. Why did you first come visit Career Development?

I first visited Career Development in August 2013 when I wanted to get a head start on looking for a graduate psychology program at NSU. At the same time, I started working on my resume with one of the advisors to help me prepare for a potential job or internship during senior year. The process was time consuming, but worthwhile.

2. What did Career Development help you with?

One of the advisors that I met with was April Klimkiewicz. She helped me discover so many options that I wouldn't have otherwise found and her amazing positivity helped encourage me. After discussing with my advisor and researching the masters program that would best fit me, I got to know some people that became influential in my decision about graduate school. One of these individuals was another Career Development advisor, Rob Keever. With the help of the advisors, I found that NSU’s masters program in marriage and family therapy was the type of psychology that I had always wanted to learn since I had started college in Italy. By the time I decided which program best suited me, my resume was finished up with the help of my advisors. Because of this, I was able to start and finish the graduate school application in advance and will be able to start the program this summer, right after graduation.

3. Will you be visiting Career Development for your future professional needs? Why or why not?

All of the staff in the Career Development office is very friendly. I feel comfortable stopping by any time I need help and I will definitely visit in the future. The advisors have continued to provide great advice that I am sure will help me in my career.

4. What advice would you give to students that are considering visiting Career Development?

My main suggestion to students who are considering visiting Career Development is to not worry too much about preparing before your first meeting. Instead, be motivated to take the first step and it’ll lead you in the right direction.
